GEM Talks is an ongoing series by the Grand Egyptian Museum that brings people together to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives, and celebrate creativity. Built on the belief that culture evolves and transforms, the series explores how art, media, and storytelling shape the world around us.
This edition explores how film and television go beyond entertainment to shape social influence and public dialogue. The session examines the power of storytelling, the responsibilities filmmakers carry, and how creative choices and social media shape audience perception and cultural impact long after a story is released.
Moderated by Dr. Nancy Ali, Director of Innovation at Legacy, operator of the GEM, the talk brings together leading voices from Egyptian and regional cinema. Mohamed Hefzy, producer, screenwriter, and founder of Film Clinic, Omar Hilal, award-winning director, writer, and producer, and Mariam Naoum, acclaimed screenwriter and founder of Sard Writers’ Room, reflect on how cinema and television can raise awareness, spark dialogue, and contribute to meaningful cultural conversations.
